Meet the 2021 Eastern Oregon Livestock Show Royal Court
queen KACHIRA PHILLIPS
Howdy! My name is Kachira Phillips, I am 21 years old and was born and raised in North Powder, OR. I currently work at the Union and Elgin clinics as a certified medical assistant and I am pursuing my phlebotomy and EKG technician certifications. Upon completion of those, I will be returning to college with aspirations of becoming a registered nurse.
During High School, I was involved in FFA, basketball, volleyball, rodeo, and theatre. I graduated high school in 2017 with my Honor’s Diploma, minors in Spanish, and enough college credit to enter a university as a sophomore.
My experience with horses dates back to my early childhood. I do not remember a time when I have not been infatuated with horses. I learned to ride from my great grandparents on their ranch, where I rode my great grandmother’s horse, Poquito. My trusty mount is a 19-year-old quarter horse mare named Hershey Kisses. When I am not participating in rodeo, I enjoy knitting, crocheting and sewing, as well as training my two border collies, Colt .45 and Pistol Annie. My parents are Brad and Heather Phillips and my beautiful little sister is Ryleigh. We were raised in the great outdoors, being taught primitive survivalist skills, fishing, trapping, and hunting. I would like to thank my family, friends, and community for their endless support in all my endeavors.
As an ambassador of EOLS, I strive to be a professional, approachable, and integral representative. Hard honest work and a driven dedication are only a few attributes I plan to contribute during my time. It is with great dignity that I am proud to say: I cannot wait to represent "The Oldest Show in the Northwest", the Eastern Oregon Livestock Show!

Princess MAKENZIE POLFER
Hello, Eastern Oregon Livestock Show Rodeo fans! My name is Makenzie Polfer. I was born and raised in La Grande, Oregon. I am 18 years old and a senior at La Grande High School. My parents are Jed and Keri Polfer, and I am the oldest of three children. I have younger twin sisters, Karlee and Kaitlin Polfer. For the EOLS Royalty Court, I will be using my AQHA gelding named, ‘Hello Mister Vino’ also known as ‘Snip’. My stunning equine partner is the perfect combination of athleticism, loyalty, dependability, and SPEED!
My biggest mentors within the equine industry since I was a young girl have been Cindy Jo DeLong and her husband, Scott DeLong. My horses and I have been a part of many brandings, cattle drives, trail rides, horse camps, clubs, and playdays at the Mavericks in La Grande. I greatly enjoy attending clinics with professionals to expand my horsemanship knowledge and bettering my equine science knowledge. I have been showing cattle since I was eight years old. I raise my own champion Black Angus heifers and cow/calf pairs alongside my many other show cattle enterprises. I have been showing my cattle at both the Eastern Oregon Livestock Show and the Union Co. Fair for many years in both FFA & 4-H. All my cattle are born and raised on the JKP Cattle Ranch that is owned by my father and mother.

I have taken many leadership roles within school-related activities, as well as outside of school. I have always been an honor student within the La Grande School District. I am on the LHS Mock Trial Team and a member of the Political Club. I am very involved in FFA and 4-H. Throughout my years within FFA and 4-H, I have been elected several times to serve in various officer positions. I received my Oregon FFA State Degree in March of 2020. With my continued FFA involvement, I will be a candidate to receive my National FFA American Degree upon graduation. After high school, I intend to further my education in the Agricultural Sciences Program through EOU and OSU. I plan to pursue a career specifically involving the cattle industry. Above all, I will absolutely continue cattle ranching to keep my family’s history and legacies going strong for many generations to come!
To be on the EOLS Royalty Court has forever been a dream of mine. Each year, I would watch the court fly by on the track and it was a special feeling that inspired me to someday be in that saddle. I plan to encourage others to be a part of this amazing show and rodeo, along with inspiring younger generations to continue these long-lived traditions. I am more than excited to represent not only my personal favorite rodeo, but the PRCA as well. It is going to be an amazing summer that will be filled with many memories and new relationships. I would sincerely like to say thank you to my family, friends, and the community for all their support. To all of you rodeo fans, let's make the 2021 Eastern Oregon Livestock Show one to remember; RAIN OR SHINE, EOLS IS ALWAYS A GOOD TIME!
