John Coote moved to the Grande Ronde Valley in 1978 from Nevada and made this valley his home. He was employed as a field editor & marketing consultant for the Western Livestock Journal covering the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada for 12 years. In 1990, he became owner of Mountain Center Livestock Market in La Grande, Oregon. John then became lead auctioneer and customer marketing representative for Northwestern Livestock in Hermiston, Oregon in 1992. In 1999, he became the lead auctioneer and marketing consultant with Producers Livestock Marketing in Vale, Oregon. He still holds this position today.
Since 1979 John has served as auctioneer for the EOLS Junior Livestock Auction. In the 42 years since he has sold junior Livestock projects for three generations of exhibitors. John also operates Coote Auction, a Farm, Estate and Business Auction service with his wife and business partner Joni Lequerica.
